About PureWaterFinder

PureWaterFinder helps you find a place to fill up with good water, wherever you are in the US. We built the directory we always wanted: one place to see where the refill stations and natural springs are, what kind of water each one offers, and whether it's worth the drive.

What we've built

Today our directory lists more than 23,000 refill stations and springs in over 6,000 cities, across all 50 states and Washington, DC. That includes:

  • Filtered refill stations: reverse osmosis kiosks and machines from Watermill Express, FreshPure and Primo (including Glacier machines), plus the refill stations inside grocery stores like King Soopers, Safeway, Whole Foods and Natural Grocers.
  • Natural springs: publicly accessible springs, with location and access notes where we have them.
  • The water you're after: reverse osmosis, alkaline, deionized and spring water, labeled on each listing when we know it.

What you get

  • A finder that starts where you are. Search by city or ZIP, or use your location to see real distances.
  • A list and a map. Switch between the two on any city page.
  • Filters that matter. Narrow it down by what's open now, the type of water, or your ZIP.
  • Station pages with the details. Water types, hours, inside or outside the store, and listed prices where we have them.
  • Reviews and photos from other guests, so you can skip a broken machine. Every review is checked before it appears.
  • Plain-English guides on what a refill costs, how to check a machine, and how to keep your jugs clean.

How listings are built and kept current

We start from the places operators and public sources say refill stations and springs exist, and we only list a place when we can describe it: a name, a city and a type of water. Hours, prices and access notes show up when we know them. If we don't know something, we leave it off rather than guess.

Guests keep us honest. You can review a station, add photos and report what you saw, and we use those reports to fix listings. When we learn a station has moved, closed or was described wrong, we update or remove it.

A guest report isn't a lab test, and a listing isn't a safety rating. We don't publish lab results, we don't certify that water is safe to drink, and we don't give medical advice. Choosing where to fill up is your call. See our Terms for the full disclaimer.

How We Create Our Guides

The team. PureWaterFinder is a small team led by Ryan Bradley, Founder, and Anca Bradley, Co-Founder. We built this directory because finding a good refill spot was harder than it should be, and our guides come from the same place: the questions we had ourselves.

How we research. Every guide starts with what we know best, which is our own station data: where refill stations and springs are, which water types they list, whether you fill up inside or outside, and the prices stations list. We combine that with trusted sources like the CDC, the EPA, state health departments and published research, and we mention them right in the text so you can see where a fact comes from. When a company describes its own process, we say so.

How we check our work. Every guide is fact-checked against our station data and the sources it mentions, and we re-check prices and links before it goes live. In our guides, prices are labeled as listed prices. We update guides when prices or facts change. We're not doctors or lab scientists, and we don't pretend to be.

What we won't do. We don't give medical advice. If you have a health question about your water, talk to your doctor. We don't publish lab results or rate water as safe. And we never take payment for reviews or let a sponsor change what a guide says.

PureWaterFinder is free to use. Some links on the site are affiliate links, including the shopping shelf on station pages, so we may earn a commission if you buy through one, at no extra cost to you. We're an Amazon Associate. Paid placements are always labeled "Sponsored." Shopping links aren't ratings of the water at any station, and no sponsor changes what a guide says.
